Featuring…
Hangman
Client: Cell C
Genre: Entertainment & Digital Engagement
Episodes: 10
An original Bl!nk / Cell C production, Hangman is a global first – wrapping unscripted entertainment around gaming and immersing viewers in the action. Hangman is a grueling search for SA’s greatest innovators… Talent with an eye on the future and determination to build it.
The competition is tough – mimicking the lives of entrepreneurs and innovators. Livelihoods – theirs and others – literally hang in the balance. In the game of Hangman, it’s about hanging onto life in the world of business – one false move and you’re out of the game. The show is driven by Backers who ultimately decide who stays with a shot at R1million and who faces the proverbial noose.
Hangman takes traditional entertainment to the next level. Viewers help determine the outcome by investing in contestants through a virtual stock exchange or by offering physical support. It’s essentially a new genre of entertainment in which gaming meets reality television…. live!
The Innovator who succeeds in garnering the support of the Backers while at the same time rallying viewer (‘investor’) sentiment, walks away with a R1 million investment.

#BreakTheNet breaks new ground in digital entertainment as it unearths the next online sensation and marks the start of a “strategic content play” by Cell C.
A Cell C/Bl!nk initiative, #BTN represents a combination of traditional high-level creative television and the best trailblazing content offerings available to the YouTube generation. Comedy duo Nic Smal and Gareth Allison of Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues anchored the show’s first season, with Darren “Whackhead” Simpson portraying the Task Master. The mentors included YouTube star Suzelle DIY, who joined Instagrammer Ofentse Mwase and online personality Theodora Lee. South African actor Blessing Xaba participated as a “celebrity” contestant.
Out of the top 30 hopefuls, the winner walked away with R250 000 and an all-paid paid trip to Hollywood.
